Scary and Crazy Day~~~

Today has been one crazy and scary day. First, we have a couple of dogs that stay outside. I went out this morning to feed them and noticed that there was only 1 dog. The only one, DeeDee (my kids named her after the character on the show Dexter's Laboratory), was standing over by her doghouse. Emily (DeeDee's sister who was named after Emily Elisabeth from Clifford) was missing. After about a 30 minute search I finally found her hiding under the back porch of my neighbor's. We have a 6 ft property fence around our yard except for the back part which is closed off with chicken wire. Apparently our neighbor's free-roaming cat came into our yard, like it does commonly and makes our dogs go crazy. But the cat came into the yard and Emily (on a chain) went crazy because it was in our yard. She snapped her chain and went after it. When I found Emily, I found the cat up in a tree near the porch. Emily had jumped over the chicken wire fence and couldn't figure out how to get back.

Now about 1pm, we heard that my city was under a tornado watch. The system had already spawned a possible tornado a couple of counties away. The news stated that it destroyed around 30 homes. Then when the storm came over our house, you could feel the energy that it had. I have been in many tornados (*sp) and severe thunderstorms but this one was different. They showed on the news that a tornado was spotted in the clouds near my home. My children were at school and the news announced that their school was on lock down because of the threat of the tornado. I live out in the country so we do not have any tornado sirens or anything to warn us except for watching on the TV or going outside and looking for ourself. But the news reported that a couple of homes were reportedly damaged down the street from me.

It's 3:55 cst and I just came in from checking the property and it seems that we are okay. Thankfully. I called my children's school and they said that they didn't have any damage either but around 20 minutes down the road from there, a couple of houses were damaged either by straight line winds or by the possible tornado. Sometimes I hate living in the south because we have to go through mess like this.
